1 FORMS & CONVENTIONS

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Distributor- Our group decided to use Verve due to their large portfolio of films that have been done by first time film makers as well as small independent films.

Production company Metropolitan Film

*co-production company

Opening shot/ establishing shot- In this scene we decided to use this particular shot as it shows the policeman's unstable state of mind as well as how stressed he is. The audience is immediately aware of that the policeman has something troubling him and it gives the audience something to think about.
Protagonists- The two protagonists in our film are the two teenagers as they are being prejudiced and discriminated by a troubled policeman.
Social Issues- Our film tackles social issues and the fact that teenagers can be discriminated by the police and other members of society. Only because there are news stories of teenage gang violence, this leads to teenagers on the whole being catagorised as part of a gang.
Two-shot- In this scene a two-shot is used to show conversation as well as to vary our camera shots
Shot reverse shot- a shot reverse shot is used to maintain the flow of the dialogue as well as increase the tempo of the dialogue, make the scene more fast paced and dynamic.
Tracking shot- We used a tracking a fast paced tracking shot as it was symbolic of the situation and it was the climax of suspense.
Close-up- we used a close up shot as it meant that the scene in question was privileged and was the center piece.
Extreme close-up we used an extreme close up as it was symbolic of stress and an increase in pressure on the policeman
Pan- we used a tilt pan as it was a variance in camera shot and movement
Credits- in our credits it included our director, editors and production company
Action Code - Our film is an action as one thing leads to another and the opening moves veyr fast in terms of pace.
Suspense- our film builds up suspense very well until the very end, it is the key focus throughout the film
Barthes - we researched Roland Barthes and noticed that our film fit under the category of action code due to one action directly linking to another.
